OZST Athlete Journal: Cassidy Collingwood

Hello, my name is Cassidy, and I’m starting my second year of FIS with the OZST. I grew up skiing with the Smithers Ski and Snowboard Club, where I was an athlete from U6 through U16.
Our team just returned from our first training camp of the season, starting in Lake Louise for technical free skiing and plenty of drills, and then heading to Sun Peaks for some time back in gates. It was incredibly valuable to spend those first days getting our feet under us and building a strong foundation for the season ahead. Our main focus was hip positioning and creating a stable platform.
One of the highlights of the trip was getting to know the new athletes on the team, as well as reconnecting with my teammates from last year who I hadn’t seen in a couple of months. After a short break at home, we’re heading to Pano for our next camp. I’m excited to get lots of days on snow and to keep working toward my competitive goals this season.
